Doteco manufactures an innovative automatic
gauge control air ring package that can be retrofitted to existing
stationary blown film automatic gauge control dies. A contact or
non-contact gauge measurement sensor is mounted in a rotating ring
halfway up the tower to measure the actual gauge profile. A special
air ring mounted between the existing dual lip air ring and the die
blows cool air from point to point around the circumference of the
bubble. By adjusting the air flow, based on information collected
from the gauge sensors, the film thickness can be corrected from
point to point around the bubble. As the corrections are made, the
sensor system measures the improvements and further corrects again.
Gauge tolerances can be typically cut in half from what they were
without the gauge control system. |
