Most new blown film lines are supplied with an
oscillating haul-off rather than an oscillating die. Most film
producers have learned of the added benefits of this gauge randomization
solution. Oscillating haul-offs produce flatter film rolls than
do oscillating dies. Also, oscillating dies, especially in co-extrusion,
are fraught with seal failures and bearing failures due to the
high temperature and pressure that they are operated under.
Whether an existing line is an upward or downward blown film line,
these lines can be retrofitted with oscillating haul-offs to improve
roll geometry at a minimum of retrofit cost. |
